2006 Community Service Award Winner Gail Harrell (left) is presented with her award by Dava Hunt (right.)

Gail was nominated by Janice Mosely, here is part of her nomination letter:  Gail has volunteered her time at a no-kill shelter, For the Love of Dogs in Wilson, NC.  She works with several vets performing spay/neuter clinics and assisting in the care of sick and injured animals at the shelter.  Gail exemplifies the role of a RVT in her care for the "unwanted" animals in her community.
2007 Community Service Award Winner Kerry Voll (right) is presented with her award by Judy Benrud (leftt.)

Kerry was nominated by Tillie Laws, here is her nomination letter.  Kerry, in addition to her full-time job as a surgery tech at the Teaching Hospital at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, makes the time to involve herself in many extracurricular charitable activities.  These include:  Operation Catnip; Rural Area Veterinary Service through the Humane Society; Breast Cancer Awareness events; Johnston County Chorale events (singing in prisons, nursing homes, and hospitals); and at the Vet School, working Open House and volunteering to be a high-jump judge at the annual Dog Olympics.  We can all take a lesson from Kerry – involve yourself in your community!
